Depending on the pattern you are using or the effect you want to create the size of needles determine that effect. The smallest needles that should be used are 5mm. This gives a nice soft effect. I have used 5mm up to 20mm. The long poncho took 24 50grm balls using 15mm needles double knit.The shorter version took 12 50grm balls using 10mm needles single strand. The deep chocolate poncho took 22 50grm balls using 10mm needles double knit. The mid grey ponchos took 20 50grm balls using 10mm needles double knit. Our wools are so soft they are also ideal for babies.
